Description

The recipe begins by slicing a French stick baguette nearly through at 2cm intervals, then mixing softened unsalted butter with finely minced fresh garlic, salt, and chopped parsley if desired.   • 1 baguette ~ 60cm / 2ft long (Note 1, French stick
  • 125 g / 1 US stick butter softened, unsalted
  • 2 tsp garlic minced (~3 - 4 cloves, pack the teaspoon, fresh
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp parsley optional, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200C/390F.
  2. Cut the French stick in half. Then cut the bread almost all the way through into 2cm / 4/5" thick slices.
  3. Mix together the butter, garlic, salt and parsley. Taste to see if it's salty / garlicky enough for your taste (Note 2).
  4. Smear garlic butter over cut side of bread (Note 2).
  5. Smear remaining butter on the top and sides of the bread.
  6. Wrap each bread in foil.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes until the crust is crispy (check through foil).
  8. Unwrap and serve!

Notes

  • Use a basic French stick or baguette approximately 60cm long for best results mimicking pizza chain garlic bread.
  • Fresh garlic cloves minced finely provide the strongest flavor; adjust garlic quantity to taste.
