Biscuits and Gravy Casserole

This Biscuits and Gravy Casserole combines broken biscuit dough pieces with browned sausage, shredded cheddar, and a savory peppered gravy. Eggs and milk create a rich custardy binder that soaks into the biscuit base, delivering a hearty, layered breakfast or brunch dish. The casserole bakes to a golden brown, puffed texture with melted cheese melding the layers together. This recipe is ideal for a filling family meal or brunch gathering using convenient refrigerated biscuit dough and sausage.

Description

The Biscuits and Gravy Casserole uses refrigerated biscuit dough cut into quarters as a base, layered with pre-cooked sausage and shredded cheddar cheese. A whisked egg and milk mixture seasoned with salt and pepper is poured over these layers, then topped with a prepared peppered gravy from mix. Baking at 350°F yields a golden-topped casserole with a soft, custard-like interior where biscuit pieces absorb flavors from meat and gravy. The peppered gravy adds savory, smooth moisture balancing the richness of the eggs and cheese.

The casserole is served warm straight from the oven and can be cut into portions ideal for breakfast or brunch. Its dense and comforting texture makes it well-suited for feeding a group or preparing ahead when time is short. The use of sausage and cheddar cheese makes this a hearty option with a classic flavor pairing.
