Bisquick Sausage Balls (3 Ingredients!)
Description
Bisquick Sausage Balls are made from a simple mixture of breakfast sausage, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and baking mix. The ingredients are combined without compacting tightly, then rolled into small balls and baked until golden. This baking method produces a crisp outside with a juicy, cheesy inside, balanced by the seasoned pork sausage. The result is a snack or finger food with a rich, savory flavor and satisfying texture.
Their small size makes them suitable for gatherings or casual snacking, and they can be served warm or at room temperature. Due to their prep and bake time, they're a reliable option when you need easy, handheld hors d'oeuvres.
Leftover sausage balls store well in the refrigerator for up to four days in an airtight container, making them convenient to prepare in advance or save for later.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground pork sausage breakfast
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese I prefer sharp cheddar, shredded
- 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the sausage, shredded cheese, and baking mix. Make sure to combine the mixture gently, without packing it too tightly.
- Scoop the mixture into 1 tablespoon sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown. You can check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to make sure they are fully cooked to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Remove the sausage balls from the oven and place them on a paper towel to drain any excess grease. Serve either warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use herb-seasoned pork breakfast sausage or any ground pork sausage variant to suit your flavor preference.
- Shred your own sharp cheddar cheese from a block rather than using pre-shredded for optimal flavor and texture.
- Bisquick baking mix provides structure; possible substitutes include Stove Top Stuffing Mix or Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
