Blood Orange Margarita
Description
This Blood Orange Margarita uses the juice of freshly squeezed blood oranges along with triple sec, tequila, and freshly squeezed lime juice to create a citrus-forward cocktail. The rim of the glass is coated with kosher salt by wetting it first with lime juice or water, which adds a salty contrast to the drink's sweet and tart flavors.
Shaking the ingredients with ice chills and dilutes them slightly, balancing the cocktail. The result is a crisp, tangy margarita with a characteristic deep orange-red hue from the blood orange juice. The drink is served over ice and can be garnished with a slice or twist of blood orange peel to complement the flavors and appearance.
