Blood Orange Vodka Martini

The Blood Orange Vodka Martini is a citrus-forward cocktail combining vodka, fresh blood orange juice, dry vermouth, and simple syrup, shaken with ice to chill and blend the flavors. It offers a balanced mix of fruity brightness and smooth spirit character, garnished with a blood orange slice for a vibrant presentation.

Description

This cocktail recipe calls for vodka mixed with fresh blood orange juice, dry vermouth, and simple syrup to provide a balanced taste with citrus acidity and slight sweetness. The ingredients are combined in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shaken vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture becomes thoroughly chilled and the shaker exterior feels frosty. The drink is then strained into a chilled martini or coupe glass, yielding a clear, brightly colored cocktail. A thin slice of blood orange is used as garnish to complement the visual appeal and hint at the citrus notes in the drink.

The fresh blood orange juice is critical for the distinctive, slightly tart flavor and deep reddish hue that sets this martini apart from standard vodka martinis. The inclusion of vermouth adds subtle herbal complexity, while the simple syrup balances the tartness. This cocktail is well suited for an aperitif or for occasions where a citrus twist on a classic martini is desired.

For preparation ease, you can pre-squeeze and chill blood orange juice ahead of time, allowing for quick assembly when serving multiple drinks.
