Bloody Mary Recipe
Description
The Bloody Mary Recipe balances tomato juice with vodka and seasonings such as prepared horseradish, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and freshly ground black pepper. These ingredients deliver a spicy, tangy, and slightly pungent flavor profile. The optional celery salt rim complements the savory notes and adds texture.
The preparation involves salting the glass rim with lemon and lime wedges and celery salt, then filling the glass with ice. The mixture is shaken vigorously in a cocktail shaker and strained back into the prepared glass. Fresh garnishes like celery stalks, parsley, olives, and lime wedges contribute freshness and a contrasting bite.
This cocktail suits those looking for a flavorful, cold drink with spicy, umami layers from the horseradish and Worcestershire sauce. Its complex taste and refreshing chill make it popular for brunch settings or as an evening appetizer beverage.
Ingredients
- 1 lemon wedge
- 1 lime wedge
- celery salt optional, for the glass rim
- ice
- 4 ounces tomato juice
- 2 ounces vodka (we like Tito's)
- 2 teaspoons horseradish prepared
- 2 dashes hot sauce
- 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- black pepper freshly ground
Optional garnishes
- celery stalk
- parsley fresh
- green olives
- lime wedge
Instructions
- Salt the rim of the glass (optional): Rub the lemon and lime wedge around the rim of a tall glass. Fill a small plate with celery salt, if using, and dip the rim of the glass into the salt. Fill the glass with ice.
- Squeeze the lemon and lime wedge into a cocktail shaker and drop them in. Add the tomato juice, vodka, horseradish, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, a grind of pepper, and ice and shake well.
- Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with celery, parsley sprigs, green olives, and a lime wedge, as desired.
