BLT Pasta Salad
Description
BLT Pasta Salad brings together the classic flavors of a BLT sandwich in a pasta form. It features rotini pasta as a base, providing a firm bite that holds up well when tossed with ranch dressing. Crisp bacon pieces add a smoky and salty contrast to the fresh halved cherry tomatoes and shredded romaine lettuce, which provide crunch and brightness. Creamy diced avocado introduces a soft texture that complements the salad's freshness.
The pasta is cooked, cooled, and coated in ranch dressing before gently mixing in the bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, and avocado, ensuring every bite is flavorful. The finished salad is garnished with chopped parsley for a herbal note and visual appeal. This dish suits casual meals and can be served immediately to maintain the freshness of the avocado and lettuce.
The choice of rotini or other short pasta helps the dressing cling to the shapes for even flavor. Using firm ripe avocados prevents them from becoming mushy when tossed. Store-bought or homemade ranch dressing both work well, and cooking and crumbling your own bacon adds to the texture and taste.
Ingredients
- 1 lb rotini pasta or other short pasta
- 1 lb Bacon cooked and crumbled
- 2 cups cherry tomato halved
- 3 cups romaine lettuce shredded
- 2 avocado peeled, pitted and diced
- 1 1/2 cups ranch dressing
- 2 tablespoons parsley chopped
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted water according to package directions.
- Drain the pasta and run cold water over the pasta until cool.
- Place the pasta in a bowl and toss with dressing. Add the bacon, cherry tomatoes, lettuce and avocado. Stir gently to coat.
- Sprinkle with parsley then serve immediately.
Notes
- Pre-cooked bacon and pre-shredded lettuce can speed up preparation without compromising flavor.
- Firm but ripe avocados are best to avoid mushiness when mixed in the salad.
- Feel free to substitute rotini with penne or farfalle pasta for texture variety.
- Use a high-quality refrigerated ranch dressing or homemade version for optimal taste.
