Description
BLT Pasta Salad features cooked pasta mixed with crisp bacon, sliced red onion, chopped lettuce (or arugula), and halved cherry tomatoes. The dressing incorporates mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and salt, providing a creamy base with a slight tang and subtle sweetness. Pasta is cooked to al dente, rinsed, and combined with half the dressing initially to ensure even coating, then mixed fully with the remaining dressing and ingredients to maintain texture and flavor balance.
The salad offers a mix of crunchy bacon and fresh vegetables alongside tender pasta, typical of the BLT flavor profile adapted into a pasta form. It works well as a picnic side or casual lunch dish served immediately or chilled for a couple of hours for flavors to meld slightly.
Ingredients
dressing
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 3/4 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt

- 1 lb dry pasta used cavatappi shape
- 9 Bacon cooked until crispy and chopped
- 1/2 medium red onion slivered
- 3 cups lettuce roughly chopped; can substitute arugula
- 1 cherry tomatoes dry pint (16 ounces), halved
Instructions
- Whisk the dressing ingredients together and taste to adjust.
- Cook the pasta until al dente. Rinse under cool water to bring it to room temperature, then drain well. I sometimes dump the pasta onto paper towels to remove the excess water. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- Coat the pasta with about 1/2 of the dressing. Taste and add extra salt if needed.
- Add the chopped bacon, red onion, lettuce, and tomatoes to the bowl along with the rest of the dressing. Toss everything together gently with the rest of the dressing to combine, and serve immediately or keep in the fridge for up to a couple of hours before serving.
