Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini

The Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini combines muddled fresh blueberries with lemon juice, vodka, and simple syrup to create a fruity cocktail with a balance of tartness and sweetness. The sugared glass rim adds a sweet crunch while whole blueberries garnish the drink. Muddling the berries extracts vibrant color and flavor without seeds or skins in the final pour.

Description

Blueberry Lemon Drop Martini starts by rimming a martini glass with lemon juice and raw sugar, adding a decorative and flavorful edge. Fresh blueberries are muddled in a shaker to release juice, then combined with vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Shaking with ice chills and dilutes the drink slightly before straining through a fine mesh to remove solids. This leaves a smooth, bright cocktail with blueberry flavor and a citrus finish.

The use of blueberry vodka intensifies the berry note, but plain vodka can be used as a substitute without losing the lemon and blueberry balance. Adjusting the blueberry quantity can alter color and fruity impact depending on berry freshness. Served immediately, this cocktail is visually appealing and refreshing, making it suitable for gatherings or a personal treat.

Ingredients

Servings
  • raw sugar for rim
  • 14 blueberries
  • 2 ounces vodka or other blueberry vodka-they use Pinnacle at Fleming’s, Stoli Blueberri brand
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water, cooked into a syrup and then cooled)

Instructions

  1. Rub a lemon wedge over the rim of a martini glass and dip in raw sugar to create a sugar rim. Add 2 blueberries to the glass and set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, muddle 12 remaining blueberries. Add ice, blueberry vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup; shake and then strain into the martini glass (use a small fine mesh sieve to remove all the blueberry skins and seeds). Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Both blueberry vodka and regular vodka work well, so use what you have on hand.
  • Fresh blueberries vary in size and color; add extra berries when out of season to enhance color and flavor.
