Blueberry Oatmeal

Blueberry Oatmeal offers a creamy, comforting breakfast with rolled oats simmered in almond milk and sweetened with maple syrup and vanilla. Fresh blueberries add fresh bursts of flavor and color, while cinnamon and chia seeds contribute warmth and texture. This oatmeal is gently cooked until creamy and the berries burst to enrich the mixture.

Description

This recipe combines rolled oats with almond or oat milk, fresh blueberries, chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. The ingredients are brought to a low boil then simmered, stirring occasionally to press and release juices from the blueberries. The oats absorb the liquid, transforming into a creamy dish studded with softened berries and fragrant spices.

The oatmeal has a smooth but textured consistency enhanced by the chia seeds, which thicken the mixture slightly. The natural sweetness from the maple syrup complements the tartness of the fresh blueberries, while cinnamon adds warm, earthy undertones.

This oatmeal can be topped with additional blueberries, nut butter, or a splash of milk for extra flavor and richness. It is suitable for a nourishing morning meal when a warm, fruity cereal is desired.

If fresh blueberries are unavailable, frozen ones can substitute well and still provide a similar flavor and color effect after cooking.

  • 1 cup almond milk or oat milk
  • ½ cup rolled oats old fashioned
  • ½ cup blueberries fresh
  • ½ Tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • blueberries nut butter, maple syrup, milk, fresh, for topping

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan or pot over medium/high heat.
  2. Bring mixture to a low boil then reduce heat to a simmer and continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes; stirring occasionally.
