Blueberry Puree Recipe
Description
The Blueberry Puree Recipe uses fresh blueberries blended with water or flavored liquids like lemon or lime juice and honey syrup, depending on the desired application. Blending at medium-high speed for about 30 to 45 seconds produces a smooth puree. It can be made using a blender or food processor, though a longer blending time may be necessary with the latter.
This puree can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to three days. For longer storage, it can be portioned into ice cube trays and frozen for up to three months. To thaw, transfer a frozen cube to a container and let it defrost in the refrigerator overnight.
Using fresh or frozen blueberries affects preparation; frozen should be thawed before blending for best results. The resulting approximately 1¼ cups of puree can be incorporated into various foods or drinks where blueberry flavor is desired, adjusting sweetness and acidity by adding honey syrup or citrus juice.
Ingredients
- 2 cups blueberries rinsed and picked over, fresh
- 1/4 cup water
Optional ingredients (Based on the recipe you are using):
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice or lime juice
- 1 tablespoon honey syrup

- If you are making this as baby food, pour in water. If you are making it to use in drinks, oatmeal, smoothies, etc, you can add in flavorings like lime juice and honey syrup instead of water.

- Frozen blueberries should be thawed and drained before blending for best texture.
- This recipe yields about 1¼ cups of blueberry puree.
