Boiled Corn on the Cob
Description
This Boiled Corn on the Cob recipe starts by combining water, halved garlic cloves, salt, and pepper in a large pot. After bringing this mixture to a boil, it simmers for 10 minutes to infuse the liquid with garlic flavor and seasoning. Milk, butter cubes, and brown sugar are then stirred in and brought to a boil again before carefully adding the corn halves.
The corn is gently simmered in this rich cooking liquid for 6 to 10 minutes until just tender. The cooking process imparts subtle sweetness from the brown sugar and creaminess from the milk and butter, enhancing the natural flavor of the corn. The result is juicy ears with a balanced savory and sweet profile.
Serve the corn immediately, garnished with freshly chopped chives for a mild oniony note that complements the buttery richness. This dish works well as a side for many meals in warm weather or as a comforting classic.
