Boneless Country Style BBQ Ribs
Description
This recipe for Boneless Country Style BBQ Ribs features boneless pork ribs seasoned with salt and pepper and combined in a slow cooker with sliced onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, applesauce, and barbecue sauce. The ribs cook on low heat for 5 to 6 hours until tender. After cooking, the meat is removed, juices discarded, and topped with additional barbecue sauce before serving.
The combination of brown sugar and applesauce adds sweetness and moisture, balancing the savory flavor of pork and sharpness from onion and garlic. Slow cooking gently breaks down the meat fibers, resulting in tender ribs well coated with the sauce. The method does not require searing or pre-browning.
This dish suits casual meals where tender barbecue-style pork ribs are desired without bone hassle. The ribs can be enjoyed alone or with traditional sides like coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.
Practical tips include trimming any thick fat cap before seasoning to avoid excess grease and choosing favorite barbecue sauce brands or homemade versions. For added spice, red pepper flakes or sriracha can be mixed into the sauce. The recipe also includes freezing instructions, demonstrating how to prepare and freeze ribs with sauce for future cooking by thawing and slow cooking as usual.
