Bow Tie Pasta Salad Recipe

Bow Tie Pasta Salad Recipe features cooked bow tie pasta tossed with diced cheddar cheese, fully cooked ham, onion, peas, and red bell pepper in a mayonnaise-based dressing sweetened with relish and sugar. The salad is chilled for an hour to meld flavors and chilled textures, making it a hearty side dish or picnic staple with a rich, tangy, and slightly sweet bite.

Description

This pasta salad uses bow tie (farfalle) pasta cooked until just tender and rinsed cold to stop cooking and maintain bite. A dressing made from mayonnaise, relish, sugar, yellow mustard, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper creates a creamy yet bright sauce. The salad is combined with diced cheddar, ham, onion, peas, and red bell pepper, adding savory, crunchy, and fresh notes. Chilling the salad for an hour allows flavors to meld and the dressing to coat all ingredients evenly.

The resulting salad has a balance of creamy, sweet, tangy, and savory flavors with diverse textures from soft pasta, crunchy vegetables, and chunks of cheese and meat. It’s suitable as a side dish for picnics, potlucks, or casual meals.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Stir well before serving as the dressing may settle at the bottom.
