Braised Beef Short Ribs

Braised Beef Short Ribs slow-cooked in a combination of Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and dry red wine develop a rich, tender texture and deep savory flavor. The ribs are browned first for a caramelized crust, then baked until falling-apart tender alongside aromatic onions and bay leaves. This method yields hearty meat that is perfect as a main course.

Description

This Braised Beef Short Ribs recipe starts by seasoning and searing the ribs in neutral oil to brown all sides, creating depth of flavor. Onions are sautéed in the same pot, picking up browned bits. A mixture of Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and dry red wine forms a rich braising liquid along with bay leaves for aroma. The ribs are returned to the pot and slow-baked at 350°F until tender, about two hours.

The resulting meat is succulent and infused with the umami and acidity of the cooking liquid. The slow oven braising softens the connective tissue, making the short ribs easy to pull apart. Serve these ribs with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables to balance the richness.
