Breakfast Ham Casserole

This Breakfast Ham Casserole layers frozen tater tots with cooked ham, then pours an egg mixture blended with cheddar cheese, garlic, and onions over the top before baking. The result is a hearty, savory dish with crispy tater tot edges and a rich, custardy center. It's an excellent make-ahead breakfast or brunch option that combines comforting flavors and textures in a simple baked dish.

Description

The Breakfast Ham Casserole starts by spreading frozen tater tots in a greased casserole dish, topping them evenly with chopped cooked ham. A mixture of lightly beaten eggs, shredded cheddar cheese, minced garlic, finely chopped yellow onion, and milk is poured over the layered tots and ham. Baking in a 375°F oven for about 45 to 50 minutes sets the eggs and crisps the tater tots around the edges.

This casserole offers contrast in texture with firm, custardy eggs and the crispy, browned exterior provided by the tater tots. The savory ham and sharpness from cheddar blend with aromatics from garlic and onion to give depth to the flavor profile.

Cut into portions to serve warm, garnished with sliced green onion for freshness. This dish works well for a weekend brunch or a filling breakfast, providing protein and comforting starches in one pan.
