Description
In this recipe, steamed and dried broccoli florets are combined with grated Parmesan cheese, flour, eggs, and seasonings including garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to form a batter. Optional scallions provide an additional mild onion flavor and freshness.

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/3 cup Parmesan Cheese , grated
- 2 egg lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper ground
- 1 pound broccoli chopped and blotted dry with a paper towel, steamed florets
- 3 tablespoons scallions , thinly sliced (optional)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or canola oil
- sea salt for seasoning, Maldon
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine the flour, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Add the broccoli and scallions, fold in by hand until just combined. Set in the refrigerator until skillet is ready.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Using a tablespoon, place the batter into frying pan and allow to spread and flatten. Brown on each side, approximately 1-2 minutes each.
- Remove and drain on a wire rack over a paper towel lined plate.
- Sprinkle with Maldon sea salt.
