Broccoli Slaw Recipe
Description
This Broccoli Slaw combines diced fresh broccoli florets, grated carrot, chopped green onion, and shelled sunflower seeds for a mix of crunchy vegetables and seeds. Crushed dry ramen noodles are included to provide an extra crisp texture and a savory element from the chicken seasoning packet, which is reserved for the dressing.
The dressing is made by blending olive oil, distilled white vinegar, sugar, and the reserved ramen seasoning packet. This mixture is chilled for at least an hour to develop a balanced sweet-tart-savory flavor, which complements the fresh vegetables.
Just before serving, the salad ingredients are combined, and the chilled dressing is poured over and tossed quickly to coat. This ensures the broccoli retains its crunch and the dressing enhances the flavors without wilting the vegetables. The slaw serves well as a side dish for barbecues, picnics, or casual meals.
