Brown Sugar Ham Glaze Recipe

This Brown Sugar Ham Glaze combines brown sugar, maple syrup, mustard, and minced garlic to create a sweet and tangy syrupy coating for ham. Heated briefly to dissolve the sugars and meld flavors, the glaze is brushed generously over slices of spiral ham before baking to form a sticky, flavorful surface. This glaze adds depth and shine to ham, making it suitable for holiday meals or special occasions.

Description

The Brown Sugar Ham Glaze centers on combining packed brown sugar with maple syrup or honey, yellow mustard, and minced garlic. The mixture is warmed just until the sugar melts and the glaze thickens into a syrupy consistency. Applied liberally over a spiral-cut ham, brushing in between slices allows the glaze to penetrate crevices, enhancing every bite. Baking the ham at a high temperature for a short time sets the glaze, resulting in a sticky, glossy coating with balanced sweetness and subtle tang from the mustard and a mild garlic background.

This glaze is designed for ease and quick use on cooked ham, ideal for enhancing already prepared ham dishes during holidays or family gatherings. The ingredients are simple and commonly found in many kitchens, allowing a straightforward approach to adding extra flavor and a shiny finish to ham.
