Buffalo Chicken Dip

Buffalo Chicken Dip combines cream cheese, ranch or bleu cheese dressing, buffalo hot sauce, and cooked chicken to create a creamy, spicy dip. Served warm or cold, it offers a rich texture and tangy heat suitable as a party appetizer with breads or vegetable dippers. Its simplicity and adaptable spice level make it a versatile addition to casual gatherings.

Description

Buffalo Chicken Dip is made by melting cream cheese with ranch or bleu cheese dressing over medium heat until smooth, then stirring in cooked, chopped chicken and Frank's Red Hot buffalo sauce. This blend provides a creamy base with a spicy kick and tender chicken pieces distributed throughout. The dip can be served warm from the stove or cooled, depending on preference or occasion.

Common pairings include crusty bread, celery sticks, crackers, or pita chips for dipping. The recipe allows customization of spice level by selecting the preferred heat intensity of the hot sauce. It can be prepared ahead and reheated on a stove or microwave with occasional stirring, making it convenient for events.

Additional methods of preparation include slow cooking all ingredients together in a crockpot or baking the assembled dip topped with shredded cheese to create a meltier finish. These options provide textural variety and suit different kitchen equipment or timing needs.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 20 ounces cream cheese (2 1/2 - 8 oz. packages)
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing ,or bleu cheese dressing
  • 1 1/2 cups buffalo sauce Frank's Red Hot
  • 2 cups chicken cooked, chopped

Instructions

  1. Add cream cheese and ranch to a saucepan over medium heat until melted and smooth. Stir in chicken and hot sauce.
  2. Serve with crusty bread, celery sticks, crackers, pita bread or whatever you'd like to dip in it.
  3. We enjoy it served warm, but it can be served cold!

Notes

  • Cooked chicken can be leftover, canned, or rotisserie for convenience and flavor variety.
  • The dip keeps well refrigerated for 1-3 days and should be reheated gradually with stirring to prevent scorching.
  • Adjust the hot sauce brand or quantity to change the spice level from mild to extra hot.
  • Slow cooker preparation involves mixing all ingredients and cooking on low for 2 hours for hands-off warming.
  • Baking the dip topped with shredded cheese in an 8x8 dish at 350°F for 20 minutes creates a bubbly, melted version.
