Buffalo-Garlic-Parmesan Wings Recipe

Buffalo-Garlic-Parmesan Wings Recipe involves chicken wings seasoned with baking powder and spices, baked twice at different temperatures for a crispy texture, then tossed in a hot butter sauce infused with garlic, hot sauce, and Parmesan. The seasoning blend adds mild heat and herbaceous notes, while the sauce provides rich, tangy, and garlicky flavors. These wings offer a crispy skin and flavorful coating, suitable for mild spice preference with options for spicier adjustments.

Description

Starting with patting dry two pounds of chicken wings, this recipe applies a coating of baking powder, garlic powder, chili powder, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Baking powder helps crisp the skin during the initial 30-minute bake at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Raising the oven to 425 degrees for the following 30 minutes ensures the wings cook through and the skin crisps further.

The sauce is made by melting butter over low heat with minced garlic until fragrant, then stirring in hot Louisiana-style hot sauce and shredded Parmesan cheese. This sauce is removed from heat and used to coat the baked wings, allowing the flavors to cling while keeping wings crispy.

This preparation results in wings with a mildly spicy flavor and a garlic and Parmesan richness. For those wanting more heat, additional hot sauce or hotter chili powders can be incorporated into the seasoning or sauce. The recipe accommodates tailoring of the heat level according to taste.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 pounds chicken wings separated and wing tips removed
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon basil dried
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup hot sauce louisiana style
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese shredded

Instructions

  1. Pat the wings as dry as you can get them. This will help with the crispiness.
  2. Set the wings into a large bowl and season with baking powder, garlic powder, chili powder, basil, and salt and pepper. Toss to get them nice and coated. The baking powder helps with the crispiness.
  3. Heat oven to 250 degrees. Set the wings onto a lightly oiled baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Increase oven heat to 425 degrees and bake another 30 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and the skins are nice and crispy.
  5. For the sauce, add the butter to a small pan and heat to low. Melt the butter and aadd garlic. Cook a minute or so, then add hot sauce and Parmesan cheese. Swirl and heat to combine.
  6. Remove from heat and toss with the wings.

Notes

  • This recipe produces wings with mild heat; increase hot sauce or use spicier chili powder for more heat.
  • Baking powder in the seasoning is key to achieving crispy skin on the wings.
