Burger in a Bowl
Description
Burger in a Bowl features two seasoned ground beef patties cooked in an air fryer, providing a juicy and flavorful protein component without added fat from frying. The patties are carefully mixed with Worcestershire sauce and burger seasoning to build flavor before cooking. Meanwhile, medium potatoes are cut into chips, tossed in olive oil, and air-fried until crisp golden edges develop. The base consists of chopped little gem lettuce, adding a mild crunch and fresh notes. Pickled red onions and gherkin slices bring tanginess and acidity, while halved cherry tomatoes contribute a sweet burst. Grated cheddar cheese adds a creamy, sharp contrast, and the final touch is a drizzle of burger sauce, completing the ensemble.
The recipe assembles these diverse textures and flavors into a hand-held free alternative to a traditional burger meal, ideal for those avoiding bread or wanting a lower-carb option. It mixes crunchy, fresh, tangy, and cheesy elements with richly seasoned meat and crispy chips for a satisfying meal. This bowl can serve as lunch or dinner, eaten with a fork or hands.
To improve handling and texture, the patties should rest chilled before cooking to hold shape, and a gentle thumb impression in the center prevents puffing up. Adding sesame seeds on top can simulate the bun's nutty flavor. Swapping ground beef for chicken or turkey mince will yield a leaner bowl. For a touch of breadiness without buns, air-fried or sourdough croutons can be added. Using a different sauce, like a healthier ranch dressing, varies the flavor profile.
Ingredients
- 200 g ground beef
- 2 tablespoon burger seasoning
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 potato medium
- 1 tablespoon olive oil

- 4 tablespoon burger sauce
Instructions
- Mix together 200 g Beef mince, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 2 tablespoon Burger seasoning. Form into two patties.
- Cut 2 Potatoes into chips.
- Put the chips into your air fryer and add 1 tablespoon Olive oil. Shake well and cook at 200°C for 20 minutes, shaking regularly.
- Cook the burgers in an air fryer at 190°C for 15 minutes, flipping over halfway through cooking.
- Build your burger bowls by dividing 2 head Little gem lettuce in bowls. Add the chopped burgers, 4 tablespoon Pickled red onions, 10 Cherry tomatoes, 2 Gherkins, 30 g Cheddar cheese and the chips. Drizzle over 4 tablespoon Burger sauce to finish.
Notes
- Refrigerate patties for 30 minutes before cooking to help them hold shape.
- Press a gentle thumb indentation in the center of each patty before cooking to prevent swelling.
- Add sesame seeds on patties to mimic burger bun flavor.
- Swap ground beef for turkey or chicken mince for a leaner option.
- Consider topping with air fryer or sourdough croutons for bun-like texture.
- Use healthier ranch dressing in place of burger sauce for a different taste.
- Do not overwork the meat mixture to avoid tough, chewy patties.
