Burrata Baked Ravioli with Spinach

Burrata Baked Ravioli with Spinach is a layered casserole featuring cheese ravioli, ground turkey cooked with garlic and spinach, and a rich marinara sauce. The dish incorporates creamy burrata and shredded mozzarella cheeses for a creamy, cheesy texture, baked until bubbly with a golden Parmesan topping. This hearty entrée blends savory meat, tender greens, and creamy cheeses in an Italian-inspired baked pasta.

Description

This recipe constructs a layered baked ravioli casserole using cheese-filled ravioli, a ground turkey and spinach marinara mixture, and multiple Italian cheeses including burrata, mozzarella, and Parmesan. The preparation begins by browning ground turkey with garlic, seasoning with salt and pepper, and combining it with marinara sauce and fresh spinach until wilted. The casserole is assembled in three layers, starting with marinara sauce spread in a baking dish, followed by ravioli, turkey and spinach sauce, and shredded cheese, repeated twice. Finally, burrata pieces are added among the layers for creamy pockets, topped with reserved marinara and Parmesan cheese. Baking at 400°F until bubbly melds the flavors and melts the cheeses, creating a rich texture contrast between the tender ravioli, hearty meat sauce, and creamy cheeses. The parsley garnish adds fresh color.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 32 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 garlic minced, cloves
  • 1 pound ground turkey or beef
  • salt kosher salt
  • black pepper kosher salt
  • 8 ounces spinach fresh
  • 24 ounces cheese ravioli or another variety, frozen
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese grated, or other Italian cheeses
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese pulled apart
  • Parmesan Cheese for topping, freshly grated
  • parsley for topping, fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Reserve 1 cup of marinara sauce from the jar.
  2. Heat the oil in a nonstick skillet over medium low heat. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add in the ground turkey with a big pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until the turkey is browned, breaking it apart into small crumbles. Once the turkey is browned, add in the rest of the marinara from the jar.
  3. Once the marinara is warm and bubbling, stir in the fresh spinach. Cook for a few minutes until the spinach wilts and then turn off the heat.
  4. Time to layer! Add ½ cup of the reserved marinara in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread it around. Add a layer of ravioli in a single layer. We’re doing 3 layers, so use ⅓ of the bag. Next, add a layer of the ground turkey/spinach mixture. You want to use ⅓ of the mixture. Sprinkle on some of the grated cheese. Repeat this two more times, so you have 3 layers total.
  5. Once you finish the final layer, add the remaining marinara on top. Top with any extra grated cheese. Top with the burrata, pulling it apart to spread it out over the entire dish.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden and bubbly and cheesy and melty! Top with parmesan and fresh parsley. Serve!
