Burrata Pizza

Burrata Pizza features a hand-stretched dough topped with olive oil, garlic, and Parmesan baked on a hot pizza stone, then finished with creamy burrata cheese, thinly sliced prosciutto, and fresh basil. The contrast between the crisp crust and the soft, rich burrata provides a satisfying texture combination. The addition of garlic and Parmesan layer savory notes that complement the saltiness of prosciutto, accented by a touch of heat from red pepper flakes.

Description

Burrata Pizza begins with a homemade pizza dough stretched thin and topped with a mixture of olive oil, finely chopped garlic, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Baked directly on a preheated pizza stone at 500°F, the crust develops a crisp exterior while maintaining a tender center. After baking, fresh burrata cheese is spread over the hot pizza, melting gently into the base. Thin slices of prosciutto are draped atop the creamy cheese, and the pizza is garnished with torn or fried basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to add subtle heat. This pizza highlights the creamy richness of burrata balanced by savory garlic and salty prosciutto.

The pizza is best served fresh and hot, sliced into 6 to 8 pieces. It can be enjoyed on its own or paired with a light salad for a complete meal. The fresh basil adds an herbal brightness that complements the rich cheese and cured meat.

If you're short on time, store-bought pizza dough from a deli counter can be used as a practical shortcut without sacrificing much flavor or texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pizza dough homemade recipe
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • ¼ cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese
  • 3 ounce prosciutto thinly sliced
  • basil fried or torn into pieces, fresh, handful
  • red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 500 degrees.
  2. Thirty minutes before cooking the pizza, put your pizza stone in the oven.
  3. Stretch out your pizza dough using your hands in a circular motion, then lay it on a flat surface and flatten it out using a rolling pin. If you have a pizza peel, sprinkle some flour on it and place the stretched out dough on the peel.
  4. Once your dough is flat and ready to be heated, use a spoon to spread the oil, garlic and parm all around the dough leaving a little bit for the crust.
  5. Transfer your pizza on the pizza peel in the oven and slide it over the stone to bake for about 8-12 minutes.
  6. Once the crust is cooked, remove from the oven and slather with the burrata and prosciutto. Garnish with fried basil, salt, and red pepper flakes. Cut into 6-8 slices and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Preheating a pizza stone before baking creates a crisp crust with even cooking.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for a more pronounced cheesy flavor in the dough base.
  • Serve the pizza immediately after adding burrata and prosciutto to enjoy the contrast of warm crust and creamy cheese.
  • Store-bought dough is a convenient alternative if homemade dough is not available.
