Ingredients

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, 2 tablespoons of butter, and salt.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  4. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 18 minutes.
  5. After 18 minutes, remove the pan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and black pepper.
  7. Fold in the chopped parsley and serve hot. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Long-grain white rice works best for this recipe, but you can substitute with jasmine or basmati for a different flavor profile.
  • Rinsing the rice removes excess starch, resulting in fluffier rice. However, if you prefer stickier rice, you can skip this step.
  • Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze in a freezer bag or container for up to 3 months.
