Cabbage Soup
Description
This recipe centers on chopped cabbage cooked with a beef soup bone to enrich the broth with meat flavor. The addition of tomato sauce and tomato puree provides body and a slight acidity that complements the cabbage. Worcestershire sauce adds depth and a subtle umami note. Sugar and salt balance the taste, while a generous amount of water forms the broth base.
The soup cooks gently until the cabbage is very tender, allowing the flavors to meld. The texture combines soft cabbage pieces suspended in a flavorful broth. It can be made using different methods including stovetop simmering, pressure cooking in an Instant Pot, or slow cooking for convenience.
This cabbage soup serves well as a warm starter or light meal, especially in cooler weather. It offers nourishment with straightforward ingredients and a satisfying broth character.
