Cajun Grilled Shrimp Skewers
Description
The Cajun Grilled Shrimp Skewers recipe features large shrimp that are peeled and deveined while keeping their tails on, threaded onto skewers to cook evenly. A marinade made of melted butter, Cajun seasoning, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a hint of honey is brushed over the shrimp before grilling. The shrimp cook quickly over direct high heat, developing a lightly charred surface that enhances texture and flavor while keeping the interior moist and tender.
This preparation captures the spicy, smoky notes from the Cajun blend along with buttery richness, offset by the lemon's acidity and a subtle sweetness from honey. The method allows simple ingredients to meld with a straightforward technique that respects the shrimp's delicate nature.
After grilling, the skewers are brushed again with the seasoned butter and can be garnished with optional lemon slices. These skewers make an excellent appetizer or main course, easy to serve alongside side dishes or salads. The grilling approach keeps the shrimp juicy without overcooking.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Shrimp large, peeled and deveined with tails on
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1/2 teaspoon honey
- skewers
- lemon slices for garnish, optional
Instructions
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning.
- In a bowl, mix together the melted butter, Cajun seasoning, lemon juice and honey.
- Rinse and pat dry the shrimp with paper towels. Thread the shrimp onto skewers and place them on a sheet pan. Brush some of the Cajun flavored butter on both sides of the shrimp.
- Heat the grill to high. Grill each shrimp skewer over direct heat for 2-3 minutes per side, flipping as soon as the first side begins to turn pink. Cook until the shrimp is no longer translucent and a bit charred.
- Remove from the grill and brush with the remaining Cajun flavored butter. Serve garnished with lemon slices (optional).
