Description
This remoulade sauce blends common pantry ingredients to create a flavorful dressing with layers of savory, tangy, and spicy notes. The base of mayonnaise provides creaminess, enhanced by mustard and pickle relish for tang. Lemon juice adds brightness, while paprika, Cajun seasoning, horseradish, garlic, Worcestershire, and hot sauce contribute a balanced heat and depth. Whisked together, the flavors meld over a few hours or preferably overnight for a more integrated taste.
This versatile sauce can be served chilled alongside fried fish, as a dip for baked potato wedges, or drizzled over crab cakes and chicken. Its sturdy texture holds up well on various foods.
Prepare the sauce at least two hours before serving, or up to two days ahead. Keep leftovers refrigerated in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Freezing is not recommended due to separation.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 3 Tbsp. mustard or spicy, Creole style
- 2 Tbsp. pickle relish dill or sweet
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. Cajun seasoning
- 2 tsp. horseradish prepared
- 1 clove garlic finely minced
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp. hot sauce such as Tabasco
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl and whisk to combine.
- Store remoulade sauce for 1-2 hours or overnight so the flavors can meld together for best taste.
