Candied Nuts (Crockpot or Oven)

This recipe offers two methods to make a sweet and spiced candied nuts mix featuring pecans, almonds, and cashews. Coated in a frothy egg white and vanilla mixture, then covered with a cinnamon-sugar blend, the nuts are either slow-cooked in a crockpot or baked until crisp. The result is a crunchy, sweet snack with a warm cinnamon spice that can be enjoyed fresh or stored for up to a week.

Description

The Candied Nuts recipe uses a combination of unsalted pecans, almonds, and cashews coated in an egg white and vanilla wash to help the cinnamon sugar adhere. After coating with a mix of granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon, the nuts can be cooked either slowly in a crockpot on low heat for three hours or baked in an oven at 325°F for about 35 minutes. Frequent stirring during cooking ensures even coating and caramelization. Once cooled, the nuts become crisp and sweet with a touch of cinnamon spice, ideal for snacking or garnishing desserts.

The recipe advises storing the cooled nuts in an airtight container, keeping them fresh for about a week. This candied nut mix can be made ahead and adjusted to your preferred spice level by modifying cinnamon quantity. Both cooking methods produce a similarly textured nut coating with deep flavor infusion from the slow heat and sugar caramelization.
