Canned Tuna Ceviche

Canned Tuna Ceviche is a fresh, no-cook dish mixing chunked white albacore tuna with lime juice, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, tomato, and optional hot sauce. Marinated briefly in lime juice, this ceviche combines bright acidity with subtle spiciness and herbaceous notes. The addition of avocado slices balances the dish with creamy texture, making it an easy and refreshing seafood appetizer or light meal.

Description

This ceviche begins by mixing minced red onion with kosher salt, fresh lime juice, and olive oil to create the acidic base. Chopped cilantro, jalapeño, drained canned tuna, seeded diced tomato, and optional Tabasco sauce are stirred in. The mixture is refrigerated for at least 20 minutes to allow the flavors to blend and the acidity to subtly permeate the tuna. When serving, fresh avocado slices are added on top to complement the bright, piquant flavors with creaminess.

The dish offers a quick way to enjoy ceviche-style bites without raw seafood, leveraging canned tuna's convenience. It pairs well with tortilla chips or as a light topping on toasted bread.
