Cantaloupe Daiquiris

Cantaloupe Daiquiris blend fresh cantaloupe juice with white rum, simple syrup, and maraschino cherry juice, producing a fruity and refreshing cocktail with a hint of lime brightness. The optional splash of seltzer adds light fizz. This drink combines the natural sweetness and floral notes of cantaloupe with the warmth of rum, balanced by tart and sweet elements for a chilled, vibrant beverage.

Description

This cantaloupe daiquiri starts by turning fresh cubed cantaloupe into a smooth juice by blending and straining the fruit, ensuring a silky texture without pulp. The main components include white rum, cantaloupe juice, simple syrup made from equal parts sugar and water, and maraschino cherry juice which adds subtle tartness and sweetness.

The cocktail is shaken with ice to chill and combine flavors, then strained into a frosty glass. A splash of lime juice provides acidity that balances the sweetness. Adding a small amount of seltzer water gives a light, effervescent finish if desired. Garnishing with lime and melon balls complements the fresh fruit notes.

This drink is suited for those who enjoy light, fruity cocktails with a balance of sweetness and citrus tang. The method requires minimal ingredients but emphasizes fresh melon flavor and a pleasantly smooth, cold texture.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 ounces cantaloupe fresh, juice or puree
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • 1 ounce maraschino cherry juice
  • lime juice splash
  • seltzer water splash

Instructions

  1. To make the cantaloupe "juice," blend 2 cups cubed cantaloupe melon in a blender until pureed and smooth. Strain the mixture through a mesh strainer that is sitting on a bowl, pushing any extra liquid out with a spoon.
  2. Add the rum, cantaloupe juice, syrup, cherry juice and lime juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds then pour into a frosty glass. If you’d like some bubbles, splash some seltzer on top! Garnish with a wedge of lime and a few melon balls.
  3. Note: for simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water. For instance, bring 1/2 cup of each to a simmer in a saucepan while whisking. Turn off the heat and let it cool to room temperature!
