Caramel Apple Old Fashioned
Description
This Caramel Apple Old Fashioned starts by shaking together bourbon, bitters, apple cider, and a quick homemade cider caramel sauce made from brown sugar, apple cider, butter, cream, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon. The caramel is cooked gently to a bubbling, smooth consistency and cooled to thicken before use. The mixture is then strained over ice and garnished with thin green apple slices for a crisp accent.
The drink balances bourbon’s warmth with sweet, creamy cider caramel and the tartness of apple cider. Bitters add aromatic complexity. The cinnamon and vanilla in the caramel infuse subtle spice and depth. Serving over ice tempers the flavors, making it smooth and easy to sip.
This cocktail makes a distinctive choice for a fall or winter drink with approachable flavors and a creative riff on an Old Fashioned. It can be served as a festive evening drink or paired with autumnal desserts or appetizers.
