Caramelized Brown Sugar Cinnamon Grilled Pineapple
Description
Caramelized Brown Sugar Cinnamon Grilled Pineapple makes use of fresh pineapple cut into spears that are brushed with a buttery brown sugar and cinnamon sauce. The cinnamon lightly dusted on the fruit complements the caramel sweetness developed through grilling. Cooking the pineapple on medium heat for 7-10 minutes softens the fruit while allowing the sugar coating to bubble and turn golden, giving it a lightly crisp and sticky texture.
The grilling step intensifies the pineapple's juiciness and develops a sweet, warmly spiced glaze, balancing the fruit's natural acidity. Brushing leftover sauce on top before serving adds an extra touch of caramel flavor.
This grilled pineapple works well as a simple dessert or a flavorful addition to savory meals like grilled meats or barbecue dishes. It's a straightforward recipe that brings warmth and sweetness to fresh fruit.
The instructions suggest warming the sugar mixture slightly if it becomes too thick to brush easily. Reapplying pan juices ensures each pineapple spear is richly coated when served.
Ingredients
- 1 pineapple cut into spears
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Lay the pineapple spears on a pan. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon. Whisk together the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. (If it seems thick, I always put it in the microwave for a few seconds so that it can easily pour on top of the pineapple.) Spread on top of the pineapple using a cooking brush.
- Grill for about 7-10 minutes on medium heat or until it is starting to turn golden brown. I always like to brush the excess sauce from the pan back on top of the pineapple before serving.
Notes
- If the butter and sugar mixture thickens, warm it briefly to make spreading easier.
- Brush extra sauce from the pan onto the grilled pineapple to enhance the caramel flavor before serving.
