Carne Asada Tacos

Carne Asada Tacos are made with marinated flank or skirt steak seasoned with a taco seasoning packet and lime juice, grilled to desired doneness, then sliced thin and served in whole wheat tortillas. The recipe includes a blender salsa with cilantro, jalapeños, olive oil, and lime juice, seasoned to balance flavors. Optional toppings like taco sauce, pico de gallo, avocado, and lime wedges complement the tacos for a fresh, tangy meal.

Description

This recipe begins by marinating flank or skirt steak in a mixture of a commercial taco seasoning packet, lime juice, and olive oil for at least 30 minutes to impart flavor and tenderize the meat. The steak is cooked over medium-high heat on a grill or indoor skillet for several minutes per side, then rested before slicing into thin strips, ensuring juicy, well-seasoned meat.

The accompanying salsa blends fresh cilantro, diced jalapeños, olive oil, and enough lime juice to create a smooth sauce, balanced with optional salt and sugar. This fresh salsa adds brightness and mild heat to the tacos. Additional store-bought taco sauces, pico de gallo, avocado slices, and lime wedges are optional garnishes to customize flavor and texture.

Serving the seasoned meat in whole wheat tortillas creates a nutritious and satisfying taco. The combination of grilled beef, tangy salsa, and fresh toppings produces a balanced and flavorful dish suitable for casual meals or gatherings.
