Cast Iron Meatballs

Cast Iron Meatballs deliver a hearty combination of ground beef enriched with Parmesan, herbs, and spices, browned on the stovetop before finishing in the oven. The method develops a crusty exterior while keeping the interior moist. They can be enjoyed on their own or warmed with marinara sauce, offering a versatile protein component for meals.

Description

This recipe combines ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, crushed red pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt, mixing them evenly before shaping into 12 similar-sized meatballs. Searing in olive oil in a cast iron skillet on medium heat forms a browned crust on all sides over about 6 minutes. Transferring the skillet to a 350°F oven finishes cooking the meatballs through during a 12-minute bake.

The results are meatballs with a firm yet juicy texture due to balanced seasoning and the binding agent from egg and breadcrumbs. Serving can be plain or with a warm jarred marinara sauce heated directly in the skillet. These meatballs suit Italian-style dinners or as part of sandwiches or appetizers.
