Celebration Fruit Punch!
Description
Celebration Fruit Punch combines multiple chilled fruit juices—cranberry, sparkling apple, and ginger ale—with optional white rum for an alcoholic twist. The mixture is bright and effervescent due to the ginger ale and sparkling apple juice. Fresh orange, lemon, strawberries, raspberries, and mint leaves are added to infuse additional natural flavors and visual appeal.
The preparation involves gently stirring the chilled liquid ingredients with the fruit, served shortly after mixing to retain the fizzy texture. The fruit and mint also provide a refreshing aroma and slight variations in sweetness and acidity.
Serving immediately with or without ice ensures the punch maintains its sparkle. Using no-melt ice cubes can reduce dilution. The selection of specific cranberry juice (classic, not light or pomegranate) and ginger ale (not ginger beer) is important to maintain intended flavor balance. Alcohol content can be adjusted or omitted according to preference.
Ingredients
Fruit Punch
- 4 cups (1 L / 1 qt) cranberry juice chilled (NOT light, Note 1, or cranberry pomegranate juice
- 2 cups (500ml) ginger ale , chilled (not ginger beer, Note 2)
- 4 cups (1 L / 1 qt) apple juice chilled (non alcoholic, Note 3, sparkling
- 1 1/2 cups (375ml) white rum can omit, Bacardi brand
Add Ins (Mix and Match!)
- 1 orange , halved, sliced then halved again
- 1 lemon , small, sliced into rounds
- 1 cup strawberries , halved or quartered
- 3/4 cup mint leaves
- 1/2 cup raspberry
- ice , if desired (be mindful of dilution, consider using no-melt ice cube options)
Instructions
- Pour Fruit Punch ingredients into a large jug, punch bowl or, as I did, trifle dish!!
- .Add the fruit in, stir gently (don't agitate too much)
- Serve immediately, using a ladle or mug to scoop and serve. To keep fizz alive for longer, best to make this just prior to serving.
Notes
- Use classic cranberry juice, not light, low sugar, or pure cranberry juice varieties, which can be overly sour.
- Choose ginger ale over ginger beer to keep a milder ginger flavor and retain the intended taste profile.
- Sparkling apple juice provides effervescence; non-alcoholic or alcoholic apple cider can be substituted.
- Adjust the amount of white rum to preference; adding orange liqueur like Cointreau can add a hint of orange flavor.
- Select colorful fresh fruit and mint for garnish to enhance appearance and flavor balance.
- Serve immediately after mixing to keep carbonation; consider no-melt ice cubes to avoid dilution.
