Ceviche de Pescado Recipe

Ceviche de Pescado features diced grouper marinated in lime juice to cook the fish without heat, combined with fresh tomato, avocado, shallot, and cilantro. The marinade is completed with olive oil and a touch of chili garlic paste for mild heat. This cold seafood appetizer offers a refreshing, citrusy flavor with tender fish and creamy avocado textural contrast, commonly served with tortilla chips or salad.

Description

Ceviche de Pescado Recipe uses fresh diced grouper fillets marinated in lime juice for at least an hour to denature proteins and "cook" the fish. After draining the lime juice, the fish is gently mixed with diced tomatoes, avocado, shallot (or red onion), and chopped cilantro. Olive oil and a small amount of chili garlic paste add richness and a hint of spice, while salt and black pepper season the preparation.

The lime juice imparts a bright, tangy flavor that permeates the firm yet tender fish, while the tomato and avocado contribute freshness and creaminess. The shallot or onion provides a slight bite, and the cilantro lends herbaceous notes. The dish is typically served chilled, offering a balance between acidity, mild heat, and freshness.

Traditionally served as an appetizer or light meal, this ceviche pairs well with tortilla chips for scooping or as a salad alongside fresh greens. It showcases raw fish prepared safely through citrus marination, emphasizing fresh, clean flavors.
