Cheddar Sausage Biscuits
Description
This recipe mixes all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar, then cuts in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Shredded sharp cheddar and chopped cooked maple sausage are stirred in before adding milk to form a sticky dough. The dough is lightly kneaded, shaped into a rectangle, and cut into six squares, allowing uniform baking and portion size.
Baked at a high temperature until lightly browned, the biscuits develop a tender crumb with slightly crisp edges. Brushing melted butter on warm biscuits adds a subtle richness and a soft, buttery finish. The combination of sharp cheddar and sweet maple sausage provides a savory, slightly sweet flavor profile.
These biscuits are suitable for breakfast, brunch, or as a side for soups and salads. They can be served warm or cooled to room temperature and reheated gently. The dough should be handled minimally for best texture, and using cold butter helps create flakiness.
