Cheeseburger Casserole
Description
This casserole starts by cooking rotini pasta until al dente. Meanwhile, ground beef is browned together with diced onions and seasoned with salt. The cooked beef and onions are mixed with cheddar cheese soup, milk, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, drained diced tomatoes, and steak spice to create a flavorful filling.
The mixture is spread into a casserole dish, topped with additional cheddar cheese, sesame seeds, and bacon bits, then drizzled with extra barbecue sauce before baking until hot and bubbly. This process melts the cheese into a creamy sauce and melds the savory ingredients.
The casserole offers a combination of cheesy richness, savory beef, and subtle barbecue tang with the pasta providing a tender, textured base. It works well as a filling main dish and can be customized with various toppings or additional ingredients to suit preferences.
Substitutions such as different pasta shapes or using leftover hamburger patties chopped into pieces are possible. Add-ins like sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, jalapeños, or different cheeses can enhance flavor and texture complexity.
