Cheeseburger Eggrolls
Description
Cheeseburger Eggrolls start with a sauté of diced yellow onion and red bell pepper, which adds sweetness and texture to the savory ground beef filling. The beef is seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper for a balanced and slightly smoky flavor. After cooking the filling, it is combined with cheddar cheese and wrapped tightly in eggroll wrappers, then deep-fried in neutral oil until golden brown. This method creates a crispy, crunchy shell that contrasts nicely with the melty cheese and juicy meat inside. These eggrolls can be served as appetizers or snacks and pair well with burger-style sauces or dips. The wrapping and frying technique is key to achieving the crisp texture without greasy heaviness, making these a flavorful variation on traditional cheeseburgers.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup onion chopped, yellow
- ¼ cup red bell pepper chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tsp EACH garlic powder
- 1 tsp EACH onion powder
- 1 tsp EACH smoked paprika
- 1 tsp EACH salt
- 1 tsp EACH black pepper
- cheddar cheese
- eggroll wrappers
- neutral cooking oil for frying, generic cooking oil
Instructions
- Start by heating up a pan on the stove and spraying it with cooking oil. Add the diced onion and bell pepper and saute until they are softened.
- Once softened, add the beef and the spices and cook for 4-5 minutes or until the beef is cooked all the way through.
- In a different skillet, add the oil and heat it up to 350 degrees.
- Grab an egg roll wrapper and add 2 tablespoons of the cooked cheeseburger filling into the middle. Be sure to leave an inch on each side of the wrap.
- Add 1/2 slice of cheddar cheese (or 1 tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese) and fold the corner that's closest to you over the mixture. Tuck that corner under the filling. Then fold both side corners towards the middle of the wrapper.
- Dip clean fingers into egg water and run it along the edges to seal and roll the eggroll tightly.
- Fry the egg rolls in batches, about 1-2 minutes per side, until they are golden and crispy. Serve with your favorite dip or this amazing Burger Sauce.
- To make in the air fryer: generously spray egg rolls with oil. Cook for 10 minutes at 375F, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
