Cheeseburger Sliders

Cheeseburger Sliders assemble mini cheeseburgers using ground beef mixed with savory seasonings and sautéed onions, layered with American cheese on soft dinner rolls. The sliders are brushed with a garlic butter mixture, topped with sesame seeds, and baked until the cheese melts and buns are golden. These sliders offer a bite-sized, rich cheeseburger experience ideal for gatherings or casual meals.

Description

Cheeseburger Sliders start with ground beef sautéed alongside diced white onions and garlic, seasoned with yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. The cooked, flavorful beef is layered between halves of soft dinner rolls with slices of American cheese, sandwiching the meat and locking in moisture. A melted butter mixture with garlic powder and a pinch of salt is brushed over the tops of the assembled sliders, sprinkled with white sesame seeds for subtle crunch and visual appeal.

The sliders are baked in a preheated oven, allowing the cheese to melt and buns to develop a light golden crust. This cooking method melds the flavors together and creates an easy assembly that slices into individual portions. These sliders pair well with casual sides and can be made in batches for entertaining.

Doubling the ingredients yields a larger quantity suitable for parties or meal prepping. Using soft dinner rolls such as King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls adds sweetness and tenderness that balances the savory beef and cheese layers.

Ingredients

Servings

For the ground beef

  • 1 Tbsp. butter softened
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion finely diced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • black pepper to taste

For the burgers

  • 1 pack dinner roll 12 count (I use King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls
  • 16 lices American cheese (I use Boar's Head)
  • 3 Tbsp. butter melted
  • salt pinch
  • garlic powder pinch
  • 2 tsp. white sesame seeds

Burger sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. pickle relish sweet
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar distilled
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter the bottom of a baking sheet with softened butter. Set aside.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a medium sized saute pan over medium high heat. Add the onions. Sauté for ~3 minutes, then add in the ground beef. Cook, breaking up the meat, for another 6-7 minutes or until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Add the garlic, Worcestershire, mustard, salt and pepper and stir for another minute.
  5. Slice the rolls in half. Place the bottom rolls down on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Whisk together the melted butter with the salt and garlic powder.
  7. Place 8 slices of cheese down, followed by the meat on top, and then the remaining cheese on top of beef. Try to pack the ground beef together by just patting it down gently with a wooden spoon. It will feel a little messy, but the cheese will keep everything locked in!
  8. Cover with top layer of buns. Brush the buns with the melted butter mixture. Add the sesame seeds all over the tops.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until warmed through and the cheese is melted.
  10. Meanwhile, whisk together the ingredients for the sauce in a bowl until combined.
  11. You can brush the rolls with a little more butter once they come out of the oven, if needed. Cut and serve the sliders with the burger sauce and enjoy!
