Cheesesteak Crescent Rolls

Cheesesteak Crescent Rolls transform deli roast beef, sautéed onions and peppers, and melted cream cheese into a handheld baked treat wrapped in flaky crescent dough with Swiss cheese. This recipe yields golden, savory rolls with a rich, creamy filling balanced by the tender vegetables and cheese layers inside a crisp exterior.

Description

The filling is prepared by sautéing sliced onions and green bell peppers in butter until softened and translucent, then adding chopped roast beef to warm through. Cream cheese is stirred in and melted, binding the filling into a creamy mixture. The crescent roll dough is flattened and lined with Swiss cheese strips, then topped with the beef mixture. Rolls are carefully wrapped, pinching edges to contain the filling.

Baked at 375°F until golden brown and puffed, the crescent rolls develop a crisp, buttery crust that contrasts the creamy, savory interior. The layered Swiss cheese strips melt during baking and add a mild, nutty flavor that complements the beef and vegetables.

This dish works well as a snack, lunch, or casual dinner item, easy to eat warm and enjoyed fresh from the oven.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 tablespoon butter or oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 pound roast beef sliced from the deli
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 (8 ounce) crescent rolls refrigerated
  • 4 lices swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large skillet, saute onion and pepper in butter over medium heat until they become soft and onions become transparent.
  3. Coarsely chop roast beef and add to onion/pepper mix.
  4. Stir for about 2-3 minutes or until roast beef becomes hot. Add cream cheese, stirring until cream cheese is melted and coats the roast beef. Remove from heat.
  5. Separate crescents dough into triangles and press flat.
  6. Slice each Swiss cheese slice into 4 strips and lay each strip over each crescent triangle.
  7. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of roast beef mix over each triangle and roll up, pinching the sides of the crescent so cheese doesn't ooze out.
  8. Place crescent rolls on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 10-13 minutes or until golden brown.
