Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pie crust store-bought or homemade
  • 4 lices Bacon chopped
  • 1 cup broccoli chopped, florets
  • 1/2 onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 4 egg large
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess and crimp the edges. Poke the bottom with a fork several times and prebake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside.
  3. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F degrees (177°C).
  4. In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and broccoli florets in the bacon fat until the onion is translucent and the broccoli is tender, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
  7. Spread the cooked bacon, broccoli, and onion mixture evenly over the bottom of the prebaked pie crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Pour the egg mixture over the filling.
  8. Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown. If the crust edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil.
  9. Let the quiche cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a keto version of this quiche use this low-carb coconut flour crust.
