Cheesy Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole

This casserole combines broccoli and cauliflower florets with a creamy sauce made from condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and sharp cheddar cheese. Topped with French fried onions and additional cheese, it bakes to a bubbly, golden-topped dish with tender vegetables and a cheesy, comforting texture. The components meld during baking to create a warm, flavorful side dish.

Description

The Cheesy Broccoli Cauliflower Casserole begins by preheating the oven and preparing a baking dish. In a saucepan, condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, one cup of sharp cheddar cheese, and most of the French fried onions are combined over medium heat until blended. Thawed broccoli and cauliflower florets are stirred into this creamy base.

The mixture is transferred to the baking dish and baked uncovered at 325°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Once partially baked, the casserole is topped with the remaining cheddar cheese and French fried onions, then returned to the oven until the cheese melts and the topping crisps lightly. The result is a creamy, cheesy vegetable casserole with a crunchy onion topping.

Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to three days or frozen for up to three months. Note that freezing and reheating may slightly change the texture. This dish fits well as a comforting vegetable side for various meals and provides both creaminess and crunch.
