Cheesy Broccoli Pesto Flatbread Pizza

This Cheesy Broccoli Pesto Flatbread Pizza features a garlic naan base spread with pesto, topped with finely chopped broccoli, mozzarella, parmesan, and crumbled feta cheeses. A sprinkle of red pepper flakes adds mild heat, while a drizzle of hot honey at the end offers a balancing touch of sweetness. Baking the flatbread softens the toppings and creates lightly crisp edges, combining crunchy broccoli texture with melty cheese for a flavorful snack or light meal.

Description

The recipe starts with a garlic-flavored naan bread as the crust, which is spread with pesto sauce to provide a herbal and garlicky foundation. The broccoli can be added raw for crunch or lightly cooked to soften it before assembling the pizza. Mozzarella provides a creamy melt, parmesan adds a sharp, salty bite, and feta contributes a crumbly tanginess. Red pepper flakes are used sparingly to introduce a gentle heat. Baking at 350°F melts the cheese and crisps the naan edges, resulting in a tender yet slightly crisp texture throughout the pizza.

After baking, drizzling hot honey over the slices introduces a sweet contrast that complements the spicy and savory ingredients. This pizza is easy to prepare and suitable as a quick snack or light meal option that combines fresh vegetable elements with rich, cheesy flavors and a hint of spice and sweetness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup broccoli finely chopped
  • 1 Naan flatbread garlic
  • 2 TBSP pesto (homemade or store bought)
  • 2-3 TBSP mozzarella cheese grated
  • 1-2 tsp Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1 TBSP feta cheese crumbled
  • ⅛-¼ tsp red pepper flakes crushed
  • hot honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 350°F.
  2. For the broccoli, there are two ways this can go. You can either add raw chopped broccoli to your flatbread for extra texture and crunch, or cook until tender via steaming or sautéing. Cooking only takes a few minutes so I typically choose this option.
  3. Spread garlic naan with pesto.
  4. Next add grated mozzarella cheese and broccoli. Top with parmesan and feta and finish off with crushed red pepper flakes, to taste.
  5. You can also add an extra dizzle pesto on top if you're as obsessed with the sauce as I am - hah!
  6. Bake 8-12 minutes at 350°F. Baking less will yield a tender pizza with lightly crisp edges and baking a bit longer will lead to a crispier flatbread. Choose your favorite option!
  7. While still hot, cut into four slices and drizzle with hot honey. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Broccoli can be used raw for a crunchier texture or steamed/sautéed briefly to soften before adding.
  • Adjust baking time between 8 to 12 minutes depending on preferred crispiness of the flatbread edges.
  • Drizzle hot honey just before serving to add sweetness that balances the spicy and savory toppings.
