Description
Cheesy Caramel Puff Corn involves coating a 7-ounce bag of cheesy flavored puff popcorn with a caramel sauce made by boiling brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Vanilla and baking soda are added to the hot mixture to create a smooth syrup. The popcorn and caramel are combined in a paper grocery bag sprayed with non-stick spray, and then microwaved in intervals with shaking in between to evenly coat the popcorn. The microwave time is broken into several short intervals to allow the caramel to set gradually, preventing clumping.
The finished snack is spread out on waxed paper to cool and harden into a crunchy texture, blending sweet caramel with the cheesy popcorn base. Ingredients
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 cheesy puff popcorn 7 oz
Instructions
- Spray the inside of a paper grocery bag with non-stick spray. Pour Cheesy Puff Corn into bag.
- In a saucepan bring the brown sugar, butter and corn syrup to a boil. Boil for two minutes. Add vanilla extract and baking soda and mix. Pour over Cheesy Puff Corn in grocery bag. Roll down the top of the bag and shake.
- Microwave puff corn in grocery bag for 1 minute 15 seconds. Remove from microwave and shake. Microwave for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave and shake. Microwave an additional 30 seconds. Remove and shake. Microwave for 20 seconds. Remove and shake.
- Spread Puff Corn onto waxed paper that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Let cool and dry.
