Cheesy Chips
Description
The main components of Cheesy Chips are cooked potato chips and sharp cheddar cheese. After mixing the chips with Italian seasoning to infuse herbal flavors, grated cheddar cheese is sprinkled on top. The dish is baked just long enough for the cheese to melt thoroughly and cover the chips, enhancing their crispy texture with creamy, melted cheese.
Serving can be elevated by adding chopped spring onions and chives for a hint of onion freshness and mild pungency. The recipe notes advise against using pre-grated cheese to ensure better melting, and mention that substituting sweet potato chips is an option for variation. For those desiring a creamier topping, a cheese sauce can be prepared to pour over the chips instead of simply melted cheese.
Cheesy Chips work well as a quick snack or a side accompaniment. Adding toppings like chopped pepperoni can transform them into pizza-style fries, introducing a savory-meaty element.
