Ingredients

Servings
  • 6-10 lices bread your favorite variety, toasted, enough to cover bottom of 13x9 inch pan
  • 2 cups ham chopped or diced
  • 2 cups cheese shredded
  • 6 large egg
  • 1 ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons mustard yellow
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Prepare a 13x9 inch pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  3. Arrange your toasted bread across the bottom of your prepared pan.  Cut slices if you have to.
  4. Sprinkle ham and then cheese over top of your toast.
  5. Spread the ham and cheese around as evenly as possible.
  6. In a medium sized bowl whisk together eggs, milk, salt, mustard, nutmeg and pepper.
  7.  Pour over top of the toast, ham and cheese.
  8. Bake for between 22 and 30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to rest in your pan for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Strata is a wonderful leftover meal. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Have it for lunch the next day with some salad greens tossed in lemon and olive oil.
