Cheesy Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Cheesy Garlic Scalloped Potatoes layer thin slices of russet potatoes with a creamy sauce enriched by Parmesan and cheddar cheeses. Minced garlic infuses the dish with a savory aroma. Baking covered intensifies the tenderness while melting the cheese, then uncovering releases a golden, bubbly finish. It makes a rich side dish to complement a variety of main courses.

Description

Cheesy Garlic Scalloped Potatoes combine thin slices of russet potatoes and minced garlic, baked in a creamy sauce made from butter, flour, milk, heavy cream, Parmesan, and cheddar cheese. The sauce thickens on the stove, then coats the potatoes as they cook covered in the oven for 45 minutes, ensuring the potatoes become tender and fully cooked. Finishing by baking uncovered allows the shredded cheddar to melt and brown, creating a rich crust on top.

The balance of sharp Parmesan and creamy cheddar enriches the sauce while the garlic adds depth. The slow baking process softens the potatoes into a smooth, layered casserole with a golden cheesy surface that adds a mild crisp texture contrast. It is well suited as a comforting side for roasted meats or poultry.
