Cheesy Hash Brown Chicken Casserole
Description
This casserole starts by combining shredded hash browns with shredded cheese, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, milk, and cooked shredded chicken, seasoned with salt and pepper. The mixture is spread evenly in a greased baking pan. A topping of crushed corn flakes mixed with melted butter is sprinkled over the casserole before baking.
Baked at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour, the casserole develops a golden, crispy top from the buttered corn flakes contrasting with the creamy and cheesy interior. The hash browns provide a potato base that soaks up moisture and flavor, while the chicken adds protein and heartiness. The cheese and soup mixture lends richness and moisture, creating a satisfying comfort food dish often suited for family meals.
